Resumen

Reconfigurable computing (on FPGAs) opens the doors to the design of both well-known and recent innovative devices. In this article, a soft-core processor was implemented on an FPGA board, the XC7Z010clg400-1 from the Zynq-7000 family. This processor was designed in VHDL language using functions representing each of its stages. Similarly, the processor's ALU features 7 distinct operations and can expand up to 16 operations. The main contribution of this research lies in the design of a 4-bit RISC-type soft-core processor. The characteristic of this processor is that instructions are executed in a single machine cycle, which can be easily scaled to N number of bits per input.
